Elin- Your Life is my Vanity Project-One Week Later
Elin- sometimes its just so simple that I dont think I am getting anywhere- does that make sense…
She’s missing a week this week, its caused chaos with the plan….
Shot on a Bronica, natural light.
We have a lot of shoots planned this week at Garage, but thought some of you might like this. One of the fashion editorial make_up artists I use a lot has just had 19, thats 19 Special edition covers of V magazine published. You can see her work here

Janeen Witherspoon for V magazine
This was all done by Janeen Witherspoon, who is hella dope, and has a salon called Square Roots on North Rd, she has shot a fair bit of stuff with me including the killer tanlines shoot for GangUp,

Dont Forget Your Sunscreen _GangUp Issue 1
and the current cover of Arty magazine,

Cover of Current issue for Arty magazine.
Anyway as you can see her work is brilliant, go and click on the first link to see all the covers, and the amazing concept shot by Paul Rowland. If you havent figured it by now, there is something pretty special about the ruff the model is wearing above…..

Sharing your life with someone, its not a simple concept at the best of times…. well with Sally Reynolds its mighty complex. One of my best mates, Alex Young, not a stranger to some extremes of his own, ( he can be as happy watching the Incredible String Band as he can listening to Minor Threat whilst merrily punching himself in the head), was laughing at me the other night. Having looked after my manic cat, who perfectly embodies the personality of sally, he said to me some shit along the lines of ‘i dont know how you do it, but it makes me laugh my fucking balls off watching you and that girl off yours. You with your over developed love of Beat, Kerouac and coffee and sitting back and thinking everything out, and then this fucking force of mental excitement that your girl is… it cracks me up watching you too wind each other up and fuck knows how you manage to get along in the same house..but that girl is the funniest fucker you’ll ever meet… and feel like stabbing.” or words to that effect but with far more eloquence of course…. I should taped that boy cos hes a riot himself but anyways it got me thinking that at least its not just me, at least he sees it too. Theres this wonderful girl, who even got up and spoke unprompted with elegance, thought and such love at my dads funeral and this ball of energy thats a snarling hell cat, and everything in between. If you have ever experienced Ms Reynolds in person you’ll know what i mean, and what he means, but if you havent then batten down the hatches, you’ll hear her coming but sometimes thats just not enough warning.
These few snaps are from the recent trip from NYC, via Boston, thru Virginia and West Virginia we made last week. Now you all know I aint one of those goading photographers, I dont prompt or provoke, and i hate people playing up to my camera, this is just the Reynolds whirlwind in effect, Give her coffee, or as in the spoon pic, a sugar coated sundae and thats it, shes off burning like a football sized lump of sodium dropped into a swimming pool, you cant pick it up cos it’ll burn your hands off, but you can run around the edges smiling and pointing till its just a perfect little ball dissolving in the water and fizzling out… (its just that somehow like some kind of terminator2 she rejevunates every few hours)….
being with her is entirely like the Nirvana song Aneurysm, in fact shut your eyes and listen to the the live version from “From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah” and its perfectly her….. listen
so this is just a sample, more to come but i had to keep one clean so odisie isnt offended…..

This is normally how it starts.....

Or try it with a little refined sugar (crazy eyes are starting)

'I'm gonna be a drummer, you reckon i can drum, i really wanna be a drummer... look watch me drum.....GAHHHHHH I AM DRUMMING......'

'drive with me on the car.... come on drive... i can stay on...'

' yes...huh...whats up with your fucking face mr snappy snaps snap...'

after yet more drumming, finishing big...

I have no idea what she was doing here, but I was doing about 70mph down a mountain

even in a moment of reflection she seems to channel Ozzy....
odisie, or ‘her al pal’ was spot on…. its a glorious struggle, but damn it sally
“Love you so much it makes me sick
Come on over and do the twist
Love you so much it makes me sick
Come on over and shoot the shit”
She in NYC right now, if you are there watch the fuck out…..
I mean really, no photo of mine could do it justice, but when she flashed it at us, emma and I nearly hit the floor….. Now we need to come up with the very best shoot possible for this girl……
Oh and this is for Andy Parker innit…. oops forgot the uuuuuuurl http://www.avangelistphotography.com cos he hates Rankin….

you want a model portfolio shoot then get in touch at info@garage-studios.co.uk
Thanks to the many hundreds of people that came to the launch last night, we all had a great time and hope you did as well… I dont think i have seen so many models in the same room at one time, it was brilliant, and I even got presented with a sort of spoof/homage mock up of the mag from some flickr friends, they’d got the look of the cover and text etc spot on… So the party was great , beer, photos, fashion, nakedness on the walls and hundreds of happy people, but without the usual dross of same old Brighton faces, thank you so much if you came down.
due to some hosting difficulties our site still isnt visible, which is a shame cos it looks great, but as soon as its back up we will let you know. In the meantime we still have the blog, GangUp and if you want to buy the mag now, then go straight to the Ophelia Fancy shop, dont worry its not a scam, the ladies are 2 of the 6 crew that make up GangUp.
The mag is 104 pages, all photography, no adverts, with a beautiful matt laminate cover, and is priced at £12. You really wont disappointed, its a thing of beauty….

Thanks to Ed for this shot of one of the display copies from the launch, you can see more from last night here….
But first go buy a copy…..Go
